THE JAPANESE FLAG

As Japan is called the Land of the Rising Sun, the national flag of Japan expresses the rising sun and it is commonly known as “Hinomaru” in Japan. Hinomaru means a circle of the sun in Japanese. The sun plays an important role in mythology and religion in Japan. On a side note, in Japan, the color of the sun is painted red, but in other parts of the world,​ the color of the sun is different.
